In Recognition of Pride Month
As people around the world begin to celebrate diversity and rejoice in our differences, it can be easy to forget that so many people aren’t privileged enough to be met with acceptance or love.
It can help in lifting our spirits and getting back up, remembering that there have been so many before us who fought for our rights and shared their own wisdom.
About LGBT Pride Month 2017
June 2017 is LGBT Pride Month. Gay pride or LGBT pride is the positive stance against discrimination and violence toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people to promote their self-affirmation, dignity, equality rights, increase their visibility as a social group, build community, and celebrate sexual diversity and gender variance.
The month of June was chosen for LGBT Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. As a result, many pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBT people have had in the world.
